Basketball Recap: Midway Comes Up Short

Midway entered their matchup against Fairmont on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Midway Raiders fell 68-60 to the Fairmont Golden Tornadoes. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Tornadoes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-44 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Midway lost, don't look at Walker Holmes. Despite the final result, he posted 13 points. The dominant performance gave Holmes a new career-high in points. Colin Woods was another key player, putting up ten points.

Fairmont got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Landon Cummings out in front who dropped a double-double with 27 points and ten rebounds. Cummings' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Billings, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 14 boards.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 13-4. As for Fairmont, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-6.

Midway didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-34 loss against West Bladen on the 7th. As for Fairmont, they have also already played their next game, a 76-45 victory against St. Pauls on the 7th.
