Basketball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Timber Lake's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Timber Lake unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost to the Harding County Ranchers at home by a 43-29 margin. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Ranchers are ranked 14th).

Harding County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kamry Padden led the charge by putting up 12 points and seven steals. Padden is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Rae Verhulst, who posted 11 points and five steals.

Timber Lake's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Harding County, their victory was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-0.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Timber Lake Panthers challenge the Mobridge-Pollock Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Harding County, they will host Dupree at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Harding County is facing Dupree at the right time seeing as Dupree is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
