Skyline is 2-8 against Olympus since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Skyline Eagles will welcome the Olympus Titans at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Skyline strolled past Highland with points to spare, taking the game 56-40.
Leelu Bare continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 5-for-12 on her way to 13 points along with six assists and six boards. Ashley Price was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds.
They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Skyline was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highland only posted seven assists.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Olympus' strategy against East on Tuesday. Olympus was the clear victors by a 53-28 margin over East. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 23 points or more this season.
Olympus' win came from a few key players Skyline will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Joss Baker, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 16 boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 26 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tessa Cromar, who posted 11 points.
Skyline's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-16. As for Olympus, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Skyline has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.6 boards per game. However, it's not like Olympus struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Skyline suffered a grim 65-41 defeat to Olympus in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Baker, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 16 boards. Now that Skyline knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
