Baseball Recap: Hartshorne Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Hartshorne, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Meeker Bulldogs 2-1 on Thursday.

Malachi Sunagoowie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Hartshorne's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is undefeated (and 5-15 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Deegan Burke, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI. Another player making a difference was Hayden Morris, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Hartshorne's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-15. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Meeker, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-14.

As of now, neither Hartshorne nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
