Softball Recap: Steeleville Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Steeleville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past the Gibault Catholic Hawks 8-2 on Thursday. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 15-5 victory the Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Corinne Mueller made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Zoey Wolf was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Karsen Wedemeyer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Steeleville lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Steeleville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Gibault Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Coming up, Steeleville will challenge Marissa/Coulterville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Meteors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Gibault Catholic has already played their next contest (against Trico), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
