Softball Recap: Bishop Carroll Beats Northwest for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Bishop Carroll came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Northwest Grizzlies 17-2. Considering the Golden Eagles have won three contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Paige Stroot was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kiersten Jones, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Bishop Carroll always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northwest only posted an OBP of .385.

Bishop Carroll pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Northwest, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, Bishop Carroll will take on Derby at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Northwest, they will face off against Heights at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Grizzlies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
