Football Game Preview: South Platte Blue Knights vs. Leyton Warriors

Two dominant backs in Jared Scherbarth and Colt Van Anne are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The South Platte Blue Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Leyton Warriors at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Leyton took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on South Platte, who comes in off a win.

South Platte took a loss when they played away from home back in September, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Creek Valley 68-13. With the Blue Knights ahead 56-6 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Meanwhile, Leyton faced Garden County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Warriors were outmatched by the Eagles and fell 68-18. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-12.

Having lost for the first time this season, Leyton fell to 5-1. As for South Platte, they moved to 2-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. South Platte has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 162.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Leyton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 189.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

South Platte couldn't quite get it done against Leyton in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 46-38. Can the Blue Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
