Football Recap: Apex Keeps Panther Creek's Under Pressure

If Apex was feeling good fresh off their 38-15 takedown of Green Level last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars took a 17-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panther Creek Catamounts on Friday. Cougars fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Catamounts since Friday.

Even if they lost, Apex's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Jackson Hunter and Tas Clayton, who each picked up one sack apiece. Apex received some extra help from Roman Jerkins, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Travis Woodard had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 280 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 10.4 yards per carry for Panther Creek. Those 280 rushing yards gave Woodard a new career-high.

Apex has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for Panther Creek, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Apex does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Panther Creek, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 17-0 loss against Apex Friendship on the 30th.
