Basketball Recap: Berkelee Beekman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Diller-Odell over Johnson-Brock

After flying high against Exeter-Milligan/Friend last Monday, Diller-Odell came back down to earth. The Diller-Odell Griffin fell to the Johnson-Brock Eagles 39-34. The Griffin have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Several Griffin players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Berkelee Beekman, who posted 11 points and six boards. That's the most rebounds Beekman has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Myleigh Weers, who put up eight points and four steals.

Johnson-Brock got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Taryn Ottemann out in front who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. Ottemann is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Daley Pelican, who earned eight points in addition to nine steals and six rebounds.

Diller-Odell's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Johnson-Brock, the win was the 19th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-1.

Diller-Odell has already played their next game, a 54-42 victory against Lourdes Central Catholic/Nebraska City on the 8th. As for Johnson-Brock, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-23 win against Sacred Heart on the 8th.
