Basketball Game Preview: South Rebels vs. Mayfield Wildcats

South is 2-8 against Mayfield since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The South Rebels will head out on the road to square off against the Mayfield Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in South's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.

Last Friday, South didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Chardon, but they still walked away with a 61-56 win.

Meanwhile, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Mayfield made off with a 57-56 victory over Riverside. The win was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 453rd, while the Beavers are ranked 208th).

The victory made it two in a row for Mayfield and bumps their season record up to 6-10. As for South, their win bumped their record up to 6-11.

South came up short against Mayfield in their previous meeting back in January, falling 58-51. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Mayfield's Angelo Newman, who went 11 of 18 en route to 27 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
