Basketball Recap: Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins at Home

It was a proper cat-fight when Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech challenged Franklin Learning Center on Tuesday. The Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech Panthers took a 44-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Franklin Learning Center Bobcats. The loss was the Panthers' first of the season.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Semaj Brown, who posted 12 points in addition to six steals and five boards. Brown is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cedrick Brown Jr, who had 15 points and three steals.

Franklin Learning Center had a senior duo take command as Jimmie Greeno went 5 of 11 on his way to 13 points along with five rebounds and three blocks and Evan Crawford dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards. Those three blocks gave Greeno a new career-high. Jaylan Byrd was another key player, putting up seven points and eight rebounds.

Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-1. As for Franklin Learning Center, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 48-41 victory against Randolph Vo-Tech on the 12th. As for Franklin Learning Center, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-42 loss against Kensington on the 11th.
