Softball Recap: Bishop Watterson Comes Up Short

Bishop Watterson and Bishop Hartley squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Bishop Watterson had to settle for second. They came up short against the Hawks, falling 17-8. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, with their most recent defeat being a 13-8 loss back in April.

Clare Feehan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexa Ray, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Bishop Watterson has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Bishop Hartley, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-5.

As of now, neither Bishop Watterson nor the Hawks have any future games scheduled.
