Baseball Preview: Poly Bears vs. Lakeside Lancers
The Poly Bears will square off against the Lakeside Lancers at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeside took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Poly, who comes in off a win.
Poly not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 15, 2024 (when they won 9-2). They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over JW North.
Poly got a great performance from Danny Bedford as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Bedford has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Poly let Jacob Batcha and Lucas Burton run wild. Batcha got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Burton went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Batcha has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, Lakeside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Paloma Valley.
Lakeside's loss dropped their record down to 5-19. As for Poly, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-11.
