Flag Football Recap: Apex Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Apex dropped to 14-3 on Monday, ending the team's six-game streak of wins on the road. They took an 18-0 bruising from the Willow Spring Storm. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Cougars were not able to get on the board.

Lucy Nelson threw for 83 yards on ten of 19 attempts. Rosemary Grant was her top target, picking up 38 receiving yards.

As for Willow Spring, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-2. Give their defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Among those leading the charge was Aly Sauerbrei, who rushed for 67 yards, and also threw for 77 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 84.6% of her passes. That's the most rushing yards she has posted since back in October.

Apex does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Willow Spring, they have already played their next matchup, a 21-12 victory against Green Hope on the 4th.
