Baseball Recap: San Leandro Drops Highest Score of Season Against St. Joseph Notre Dame

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask San Leandro). They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the St. Joseph Notre Dame Pilots on Tuesday. The Pirates have beaten the Pilots the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Pilots has come to flipping the script.

San Leandro got a great performance from Sam Linnevers as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Linnevers has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Gary Ferguson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Christian Orta, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

San Leandro's record is now 9-6. As for St. Joseph Notre Dame, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-6.

San Leandro wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 14-1 win against Jefferson on the 18th. As for St. Joseph Notre Dame, they will take on Atwater in a tournament on Monday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Pilots surely won't give up without a fight.
