Basketball Game Preview: Willapa Valley Vikings vs. Oakville Acorns

The Willapa Valley Vikings will take on the Oakville Acorns at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Willapa Valley is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 18 games.

Willapa Valley will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two points on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Ocosta on Friday. Willapa Valley strolled past Ocosta with points to spare, taking the game 58-41.

Willapa Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Blane King led the charge by going 10 of 19 en route to 20 points. King's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Fluke, who went 6 for 14 to rack up 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.

Willapa Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists.they racked up 11 more assists than Ocosta's almost as impressive total of ten

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oakville). They blew past Three Rivers Christian, posting an 80-47 win.

Willapa Valley pushed their record up to 18-2 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Oakville, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-9.

Willapa Valley beat Oakville 62-54 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Does Willapa Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Oakville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
