Recap: Black River Pirates vs. Columbia Raiders
If the Black River Pirates were riding high off their 63-43 takedown of the Orrville Red Riders last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Black River was dealt a 60-31 loss at the hands of Columbia on Friday. Black River lost against Columbia in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 65-39 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Black River lost, one person who can't be blamed is Paige Kaltenbaugh. Despite the final result, she scored 7 points along with 10 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Madison Jenkins, who scored 3 points along with 8 rebounds.
Black River's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Columbia, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Black River will take on Keystone at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Keystone focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday. As for Columbia, they will be playing at home against Wellington at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Wellington is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
