Softball Recap: Holland Christian Comes Up Short

Holland Christian extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping their season record down to 6-8 in the process. They lost 13-1 to the Catholic Central Cougars. The Maroons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2016.

As for Catholic Central, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 18-0-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by six runs or more this season.

For Catholic Central's part, A Owen spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. Owen has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on K Brown-Holzgen, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was A Howard, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Catholic Central beat Holland Christian by a score of 18-8 later that day.
