Softball Recap: Freeport Starts Season with Win at Home

Freeport took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Lake Region Lakers 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted against the Lakers since April 21, 2017.

Vanessa St. Pierre was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ali Brown, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases.

Lake Region now has a losing record of 1-2.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Freeport is set to square off against their familiar foe Gray-New Gloucester at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Lake Region will face off against rival Poland at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
