Soccer Game Preview: McNeil vs. Cedar Ridge

The McNeil Mavericks will face off against the Cedar Ridge Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. McNeil's last four contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Cedar Ridge will have to contend with a McNeil squad hungry for a win, something the team hasn't seen since February 10. Neither McNeil nor Vista Ridge could gain the upper hand on Friday so the two teams had to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Cedar Ridge was not quite Vista Ridge's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Rangers by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, Cedar Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 456th, while Vista Ridge are ranked 196th).

McNeil's draw makes their record 10-6-4 this season. As for Cedar Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14-5.

McNeil beat Cedar Ridge 3-1 when the teams last played back in February. Will the Mavericks repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
