Baseball Recap: Tulare Union Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Tulare Union unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Summerville Bears on Wednesday, falling 10-3. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Roman Leal was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Ethan Willborn was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Summerville moved to 2-5-1 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tulare Union will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Corcoran at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Summerville, they will square off against Temecula Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
