Softball Game Preview: Aucilla Christian Warriors vs. Leon Lions

The Aucilla Christian Warriors will take on the Leon Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Aucilla Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against North Florida Christian on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 13-12. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (11), the Warriors still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Leon ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Taylor County 13-12. The win was nothing new for the Lions as they're now sitting on three straight.

Trinity Williams was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kierstyn Fuller, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Leon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Leon's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Aucilla Christian, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Aucilla Christian took their victory against Leon when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0. Does Aucilla Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Leon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
