Basketball Game Preview: Stratford Spartans vs. RePublic

The Stratford Spartans will head out to face off against RePublic at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Two weeks ago, Stratford might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting White House-Heritage an easy 69-45 victory. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 331st, while the Patriots are ranked 98th).

Meanwhile, RePublic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by Chiles 65-31.

Stratford has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for RePublic, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Stratford and RePublic were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but Stratford came up empty-handed after a 56-55 defeat. Can Stratford avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
