Recap: Fike Demons vs. East Wake Warriors
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to post ten more assists than your opponent, a fact the Fike Demons proved on Tuesday. They blew past East Wake, posting a 56-29 win on the road. That 27 points margin sets a new team best for Fike this season.
Jewel Brewington was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with seven assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Emory Skinner, who scored eight points.
Despite the loss, East Wake still got an impressive performance from Erica Rawlings, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Fike's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.6 points per game. As for East Wake, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fike will challenge C.B. Aycock at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. C.B. Aycock will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while Fike is ranked 109th). As for East Wake, they will head out on the road to challenge South Johnston at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
