Basketball Recap: Hephzibah Comes Up Short

Hephzibah played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the West Laurens Raiders and fell 70-38. The contest marked the Rebels' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

ISAIAH RICHARDSON and JAMARCUS SALMOND certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. RICHARDSON dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds, while SALMOND went 6 of 13 on his way to 14 points. Those 14 boards gave RICHARDSON a new career-high.

West Laurens' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nas Jones, who went 6 for 11 en route to 13 points along with six assists and three steals. Dorian Watkins was another key player, going 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points and three steals.

Hephzibah has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for West Laurens, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10.

Hephzibah wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 51-44 defeat against Academy of Richmond County on the 25th. West Laurens has also already played their next contest, a 58-55 loss against East Laurens on the 25th.
