Newton put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the St. Anthony Bulldogs with a sharp 16-2 win. Considering the Eagles have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Newton pushed their record up to 12-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for St. Anthony, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

Newton and St. Anthony should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Eagles will square off against Mt. Carmel at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (18 vs. 89). Meanwhile, St. Anthony (ranked 198th) will meet Brownstown/St. Elmo (ranked 512th) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
