League recap: Poly scores huge upset over Grant

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Poly, who took down 588th ranked Grant, 44-33.

Jonathon Porter and Kevin Moore provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Verdugo Hills. The longest such play in East Valley this season, the connection resulted in 78 yards.

The Lancers' dynamic duo of DALESHAWN JACKSON and ZIV E ELMALEH proved to be unstoppable against the Parrots, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. JACKSON threw for 250 yards and ELMALEH had 129 yards receiving. CHAD HOLLOWAY helped Grant's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 30 yards.

The Dons' Mark Powell and Carter Otte have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Powell has thrown for 1,975 yards this season, while Otte has 56 catches for 1,044 yards. Isaiah Gable from Arleta leads the league in rushing with 788 yards.

Going into this week's game against North Hollywood, Verdugo Hills' Powell needs 25 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.

The Mustangs are currently in first, while Chavez is in sixth.

Poly moved up to 654 from 711 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Jose Campos' team was able to move up by topping Grant 44-33.
