Softball Recap: Stagg Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Stagg lost to Lathrop back in March, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Delta Kings put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 13-3 victory. Considering the Delta Kings have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Stagg got a massive performance out of Ava Rodriguez, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Rodriguez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jazlyn Ramirez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Stagg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win (which was Stagg's third in a row) raised their record to 15-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Lathrop, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-10.

Looking ahead, Stagg will head out to challenge Weston Ranch at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.31 runs per game on average), something the Delta Kings will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lathrop, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Central Valley at 4:00 p.m. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
