Softball Game Preview: Cliffside Park Red Raiders vs. Wood-Ridge Blue Devils

Cliffside Park is 0-3 against Wood-Ridge since April of 2022 but things could change on Saturday. The Red Raiders will venture away from home to take on the Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m.

On Friday, Cliffside Park didn't have quite enough to beat New Milford and fell 6-5.

Abigail Appello spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Brooke Blaikie made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Brooke Winogard was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, Wood-Ridge waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Bulldogs 12-2. Considering the Blue Devils have won nine contests by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Cliffside Park's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Wood-Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 15-7.

Cliffside Park suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Wood-Ridge in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Red Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
