The Southern Trojans are taking a road trip to take on the Valley Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Southern has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 14.

Southern couldn't beat Whitefield Academy on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Trojans came up short against the Wildcats, falling 22-4.

Meanwhile, Valley made easy work of Seneca on Tuesday and carried off a 16-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.

Makenna Perry made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

In other batting news, Johanna Eason was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Isabella Brown, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Valley's record is now 6-17. As for Southern, their loss dropped their record down to 1-15.

Southern skirted past Valley 15-14 when the teams last played back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
