Softball Recap: Felicity-Franklin Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Felicity-Franklin had no problem doing just that on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the New Miami Vikings a 13-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for the Cardinals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Brook Caudill was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.5 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lacee Easter was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Khloie Martin also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Felicity-Franklin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Felicity-Franklin is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for New Miami, their loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-9.

Coming up, Felicity-Franklin will challenge Covington at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Buccs have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season. New Miami does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
