Softball Game Preview: Spain Park Jaguars vs. Hewitt-Trussville Huskies

Spain Park hasn't had much luck against Hewitt-Trussville recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Jaguars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Huskies at 5:00 p.m.

Spain Park fell victim to Madison County and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They lost 7-0 to the Tigers. The Jaguars just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Meanwhile, Hewitt-Trussville came tearing into Saturday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over the Tigers. Considering the Huskies have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Kinley Poe tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March.

At the plate, Erin Coleman was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Corey Goguts, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple.

Hewitt-Trussville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Spain Park's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Hewitt-Trussville, their victory bumped their record up to 18-11.
