League recap: Jordan paces 5A Area 12 with five wins over past week

5A Area 12 league recap: 3/27/13

Jordan outperformed the rest of the league this week, as its five total wins led the league. The Blue Devils beat Corner 8-7, Hayden 13-3, Minor 5-0 and Pleasant Grove 8-2.

Kyle Woods was the top pitcher in 5A Area 12 this week, leading Jordan. He won one game and retired six batters.

The Blue Devils boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

Jordan's Nathan Stover led the league with nine hits this week. On the season, he's hitting .299 and ranks sixth in the league with 23 hits.

The highest batting average in the league this week belonged to the Blue Devils' Stover, who churned out nine hits in 18 at bats for a .500 average. He's batting .299 on the year, which puts him at eighth in the league. Stover has accumulated 23 base knocks this year so far.



Woods threw a shutout as he led Jordan to victory over the Tigers, 5-0, on Wednesday. He struck out six, allowing six hits.
