Baseball Recap: Archbishop Mitty Comes Up Short

Archbishop Mitty fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Bellarmine College Prep on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bells by a score of 4-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Archbishop Mitty got a good showing from Jonah Ferrell, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Ferrell has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Felix Chang made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Sona Takahashi also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Archbishop Mitty's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Bellarmine College Prep, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3.

While Archbishop Mitty had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
