Basketball Recap: Conemaugh Township Drops Highest Score of Season Against Penns Manor

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Conemaugh Township). They took their matchup on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 78-28 win over the Penns Manor Comets. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Comets are ranked 440th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Conemaugh Township to victory were Ethan Matera and Stephen Stango. Matera dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Stango almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine assists. Matera's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennan Lohr, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 15 points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Conemaugh Township was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Penns Manor lost, don't look at Dylan Kuzemchak. Despite the final result, he posted ten points. Kuzemchak continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

The victory (which was Conemaugh Township's third in a row) raised their record to 10-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for Penns Manor, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.

Conemaugh Township has already played their next game (against Cambria Heights), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Penns Manor will welcome Homer-Center at 7:10 p.m. on Monday. Penns Manor is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season.
