Baseball Recap: Lockport Comes Up Short

Lockport was the 4-3 winner over Montini Catholic when they last played one another back in May of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. The Porters fell just short of the Broncos by a score of 5-4 on Wednesday.

Lockport got a good showing from Jeffrey Bruining, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits Bruining has allowed since back in April.

At the plate, Lockport saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Kundrat, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Matt Fox was another, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

Lockport's defeat dropped their record down to 21-11. As for Montini Catholic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-14.

Coming up, Lockport will welcome Andrew at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Porters 3.9, the Thunderbolts 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Montini Catholic, they will be taking part in a tournament against Hanover Central at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
