Football Game Preview: Ashland Grizzlies vs. Hidden Valley Mustangs

The Ashland Grizzlies will face off against the Hidden Valley Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ashland has given up an average of 38.7 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ashland is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They strolled past Mazama with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 63-44. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Grizzlies considering their 13-point performance the game before.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ashland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Colton Hernandez, who threw for 420 yards and six TDs while completing 76.2% of his passes. Hernandez is becoming a predictor of the Grizzlies' success: when he posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 0-4 when he doesn't). Cole Iwamoto was another key receiver, gaining 195 total yards and four touchdowns.

Ashland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 302 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Ashland didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Oscar Hernandez, Asa Richardson, and David Carter picked up one apiece. With that strong performance, Carter is now averaging an impressive 103.6 receiving yards per game.

Meanwhile, Hidden Valley came up short against North Bend on Friday and fell 20-12. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hidden Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Ashland, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5.

Ashland came out on top in a nail-biter against Hidden Valley when the teams last played back in November of 2024, sneaking past 50-48. Do the Grizzlies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
