Basketball Recap: Pillager's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

If Pillager was riding high fresh off their 67-36 takedown of Proctor last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pillager Huskies lost 72-50 to the Esko Eskomos on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 228th, while the Eskomos are ranked 72nd).

Pillager moved to 19-9 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.5 points over those games. As for Esko, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-7.

Pillager does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Esko, they will face off against Pierz at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Esko knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 28 matchups -- so hopefully Pierz likes a good challenge.
