If The River City Raiders were feeling good off their 56-0 takedown of the Kennedy Cougars last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. River City suffered a tough 56-35 defeat at the hands of Monterey Trail on Friday. River City has struggled against Monterey Trail recently, as their match on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Vontrelle Waffer was his usual excellent self, rushing for 205 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Waffer was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Barrientos, who threw for 155 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes.

River City's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Monterey Trail, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-3.
