Birdville had won three straight games and Makena Wharton did her part to make it four on Friday. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Ryan Raiders for which the team can thank Wharton, who had 21 digs and two aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 12 games she's played.
Birdville never let Ryan on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-19, 32-30.
When it comes to explaining why Ryan lost, don't look at Abigail Vasquez. Despite the final result, she had 24 digs and five assists. Emery Hodge also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.
