Basketball Game Preview: Hillsdale Falcons vs. Lucas Cubs

The Hillsdale Falcons are taking a road trip to take on the Lucas Cubs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Saturday, Hillsdale blew past Rittman, posting a 50-18 victory. That looming 50-18 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Falcons yet this season.

Mansfield Christian typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Lucas proved too difficult a challenge. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Flames 54-52. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cubs.

Hillsdale better keep an eye on Riley Trumpower. She was instrumental in Lucas' win, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 12 boards. Trumpower's afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Emma Brown, who posted 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Lucas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Hillsdale's record is now 5-14. As for Lucas, their record now sits at 11-8.

Hillsdale took their victory against Lucas when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 41-17. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hillsdale since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
