Roanoke Valley Christian had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 48-34 win over the Dayspring Christian Academy Lions. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 52-41 win back in January.

Roanoke Valley Christian had a senior duo take command as Luke Somers went 5-for-8 on his way to 11 points in addition to six steals and five assists and Logan Gutierrez went 8-for-15 to rack up 20 points and six rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Gutierrez has scored at least a third of Roanoke Valley Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Mioduszewski, who posted eight points and six boards.

Roanoke Valley Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Roanoke Valley Christian's victory bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roanoke Valley Christian will venture away from home to take on Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Dayspring Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Southwest Virginia Academy at 7:00 p.m. on February 25th.
