Soccer Game Preview: Gateway vs. Four Corners

The Gateway Panthers will take on the Four Corners Coyotes at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Gateway is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Tohopekaliga just ended the team's 12-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 2-1. The loss put an end to the Panthers' undefeated start to the season.

Their goal came courtesy of Augusto Bustamante, who's now up to four this season.

Meanwhile, Four Corners fell victim to East Ridge and their airtight defense on Friday. They lost 8-0 to the Knights. While losing is never fun, the Coyotes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 438th, while the Knights are ranked 187th).

Having lost for the first time this season, Gateway fell to 12-1. As for Four Corners, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-9.

Gateway took their victory against Four Corners in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a conclusive 8-0. Does Gateway have another victory up their sleeve, or will Four Corners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
