Basketball Recap: St. Augustine Comes Up Short

St. Augustine and Ponte Vedra squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but St. Augustine had to settle for second. They took a hard 49-30 fall against the Ponte Vedra Sharks. The defeat continues a trend for the Yellow Jackets in their matchups with the Sharks: they've now lost eight in a row.

Ponte Vedra's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maddox Palmer, who went 5 for 11 to rack up 14 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Another player making a difference was David Sanchez Barrera, who went 6 of 11 en route to 14 points and five rebounds.

St. Augustine's loss dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Ponte Vedra, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

As of now, neither St. Augustine nor Ponte Vedra have any future games scheduled.
