Basketball Game Preview: Lubbock Westerners vs. Estacado Matadors

The Lubbock Westerners and the Estacado Matadors will face off at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Lubbock is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

Lubbock saw some tournament action on Friday. They came out on top against Stephenville by a score of 50-42.

Meanwhile, Estacado made easy work of Keller Central on Friday and carried off a 55-32 win. Given the Matadors' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Chargers are ranked 676th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Estacado has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. As for Lubbock, their victory bumped their record up to 8-11.

Lubbock came up short against Estacado when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 41-37. Can Lubbock avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
