Basketball Game Preview: Wakefield Wolverines vs. Knightdale Knights

The Wakefield Wolverines will challenge the Knightdale Knights at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Knightdale will be up against a hot Wakefield team: the squad just extended their winning streak to nine. Wakefield breezed by Wake Forest to the tune of 64-34 on Friday. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Cougars are ranked 293rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Among those leading the charge was Maddison McIntyre, who posted 17 points. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaya Hamilton, who scored nine points.

Meanwhile, Knightdale made easy work of Heritage on Friday and carried off a 51-30 win. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Wakefield pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points over those games. As for Knightdale, their victory bumped their record up to 16-5.

Wakefield strolled past Knightdale in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a score of 68-49. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Knightdale's Ayomide Adewumi, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds.
