The Hidden Valley Titans are taking a road trip to square off against the Blacksburg Bruins at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hidden Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
While Hidden Valley's win against Patrick Henry wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Titans had just enough and edged out the Patriots 9-8. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Wyatt Clarke was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carter Perkins, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Brenden Rose also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Blacksburg entered their tilt with Salem on Monday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Spartans 9-2.
Jack Mann and Major Marshall did most of the damage at the plate: Mann went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run, while Marshall got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Keefer Caldwell was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Blacksburg pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Hidden Valley, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hidden Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Blacksburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Hidden Valley suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Blacksburg in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Titans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
