Recap: Continental Pirates vs. Paulding Panthers

Sadly, the Continental Pirates are still looking for their first win of the season after 18 matchups. They had to suffer through a rough 54-14 loss at the hands of Paulding. Continental was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-8.

Despite the defeat, Continental saw an underclassman step up: Olivia Crossgrove scored four points along with 12 rebounds and five blocks. Crossgrove has been hot recently, having posted five or more blocks the last three times she's played.

Paulding's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tori Schlatter, who scored five points along with six rebounds and six steals. Schlatter has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Schlatter, who scored 12 points along with four steals.

Continental dropped their record down to 0-18 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.6 points per game. As for Paulding, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.

Continental will stay at home for another game and welcome Wayne Trace at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Continental comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last eight games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Paulding, they will head out on the road to take on Ottoville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Paulding will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 419th, while Ottoville is ranked 106th).
