Softball Game Preview: Brockway Rovers vs. Brookville Raiders

Brockway hasn't had much luck against Brookville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rovers will square off against the Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Brockway knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Brookville likes a good challenge.

Brockway will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Elk County Catholic, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Rovers were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Crusaders on Wednesday. The Rovers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by ten runs or more this season.

Bailee Carberry looked comfortable as she struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rheanna Spinda, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elysabeth Myers, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.

Brockway was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Brookville got the win against Johnsonburg on Friday by a conclusive 17-6.

Brockway's record is now 5-1. As for Brookville, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Brockway came up short against Brookville when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 4-1. Can the Rovers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
