Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Waukesha West

Waukesha West waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Pius XI Catholic Popes. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Ashlee Barry made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Payton Hisel was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Emma Aguilera, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Waukesha West hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 6-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Waukesha West pushed their record up to 11-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Pius XI Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.

Waukesha West will face off against New Berlin West at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pius XI Catholic, they are taking a road trip to challenge Brookfield Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
